Pastor John Schelter

Pastor John was born in Houston over 50 years ago. He grew up in Cypress, Texas, where his father pastored St. John's Lutheran Church. They moved from Cypress to a small German community north of Austin, where a Lutheran parochial education and active church life fostered an early interest in ministry.

He graduated from Concordia College in Austin and the University of Texas before enrolling at Christ Seminary-Seminex in 1975.

Seminary education included three years of field work in the St. Louis inner city balanced by a suburban Chicago setting for internship. He then served in the urban environments of Wichita, Kansas and Oklahoma City in Southeast Asian refugee re-settlement and parish ministry.

He married Lois Werberig on February 4, 1984 and the birth of their daughters Christa and Rachel have enriched their lives with the blessings and joys of family.

Pastor John's personality and demeanor brings a rare and interesting outlook to his ministry. His sermons are legendary for delivery methods and interesting commentary
